About
I am a 27-year old composer, multi-instrumentalist and author from Sulice, Czech Republic.
I have worked as a professional touring musician and freelance composer since 2015. My journey started with early commissions for student film and theatre, and taken me to presenting my work at international arts festivals, TV, films, video games, radio shows and publications. My arrangements have featured on platforms such as BBC Radio Scotland, Classic FM Praha, and performed by touring bands across the UK and EU. I have been lucky enough to showcase my music at legendary spaces such as Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, Jazz FM or take part in the groundbreaking performance of Jisc's Lola at the Birmingham ICC in 2018.
My passion has always been writing story-driven content and letting the subject dictate the arrangements. I've learned this from some of the finest mentors at the University of Edinburgh, Prague Conservatory and the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland, and apply it to all my work. The music will feature I want to to bring YOUR creative vision to life. Whether it is in the studio, writing session or production meeting, I will always graciously receive feedback, exercise effective communication, and bring team spirit.
I can provide your project with full scores, charts, recordings, mixes and bounced stems, all edited to industry standards. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to making some music with you.

Testimonials
"I had the pleasure of working with Honza Kourimsky on a theatre project for which he composed the entire score. Honza provided extremely high-quality work promptly and welcomed feedback throughout the whole process. Throughout his creation of the score, he showed autonomy and initiative with his creative ideas but always maintained open communication with myself to ensure the work he was producing was to my satisfaction. Additionally, his positive attitude and admirable work ethic made for an extremely enjoyable collaboration between the two of us. I would work with Honza again without hesitation."
Sam Eastop - Broadsword Theatre
"Working with Honza as a composer is a very rewarding experience. It's rare to find someone so dedicated and committed to giving their best. Every beat and every note is meticulously considered to helping achieve the right fit for the piece, and the project. He ensures that he understands what you want, and articulates it in its purest form. A huge talent."
Ruidi Collins - "The Grief that stole Christmas"
"Honza’s pragmatic approach to composition allows for pieces to be completed relatively quickly and without inhibition... When collaborating he is affirmed but open to adjustment, and doesn’t seem to get noticeably over-attached to his ideas if they don’t benefit the song as a whole. The combination of these traits lead to his process having an accommodating and professional feel.
Peter Wall - Hydroponics
“Honza was a joy to work with... He is organized, professional and reliable. While we were in Edinburgh a colleague of his described Honza as “THE Edinburgh music scene” and I think that’s a perfect representation of the type of artist and business person he is..."
Kate Kurdyak - Vox Rea
"I can't express enough gratitude for the incredible support and expertise that Honza Kourimsky provided to my band, "Press Start," during the Edinburgh Fringe this year... Honza's dedication and exceptional management skills truly made all the difference in our musical journey."
Jack O'Rourke - Press Start
"Honza has been an absolute delight to work with. His organisational skills and communications skills match, equally, his outstanding skills as a jazz musician.
Honza was very timely in correspondence, very clear and succinct in what information he needed to ensure the event went smoothly for bot h parties. He attended rehearsals, again to ensure nothing was left to chance on the day itself."
"
Ruthanne Baxter - St. Cecilia’s Hall
"Honza Kourimsky is one of the most hard working and conscientious people I know in the music industry. He is proactive, thinking outside of the box... "
Joe Nichols - Nimbus Sextet

Frigid: A Musical Worth Melting For
“For this year’s Fringe run, writers Joshua O’Brien and Anthony Smyth Cowper have collaborated with composers Honza Kourimsky and Ruby McKinnell to produce a parody on the Hollywood blockbuster Frozen called Frigid: A Musical Worth Melting For…
Original musical theatre songs do follow a template and here we have no exceptions. Competently produced by the live musicians we get the ballads, the over the top show songs and an ensemble piece fabulously choreographed with the whole cast in sync on stage and belting it out…”
